HARD WATER - THE COST

Official government figures released graphically show the potential cost of hard water. Only 1.5mm of scale reduces the efficiency of your boiler by almost 10%

A Waterworks water softener can actually reduce the build up of scale in your pipes by dissolving and washing away all scale, returning your hot water heating system to its original condition.

SOFT WATER - THE SOLUTION

The benefits of softened water are immediate.

In the bathroom the first time you shampoo your hair in softened water you'll be struck bu how easily it lathers up. After rinsing , it feels squeaky clean and softer that ever before. A shower or a bath feels more luxurious and many committed users of soft water claim that soft water even clears up minor skin problems such as irritation and dryness. If you have hard water you'll know how frustrating it can be to spend ages cleaning the sinks and baths, shining up the taps and scouring out the shower cubicle when you know that the very next time they are used all that work will have been for nothing.

In the kitchen there will be a reduction in the build up of scale around taps and the sink, meaning less time scrubbing with a scourer. A Waterworks water softener will also eliminate the need to use salt in most dishwashers. Your glasses and crockery will dry without spotting or streaking. The softened water will also eliminate the build up of limescale in yur pipes and on heating elements found in dishwashers and washing machines, leading to fewer expensive engineer call outs and spare parts.

There are additional benefits to installing a water softener like:

Saving money- You can expect a reduction of up to 50% in the amount of detergents, soaps and shampoos that you use.

Saving time- As there will be no more build up of scale around sinks, basins, baths, showers and taps etc, which means you can spend less time cleaning and more time on the pleasurable things in life

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A water softener works by forcing hard water into a tank of millions of tiny beads of special resin. As hard water passes over the beads a process known as ion exchange occurs and this causes the water to become soft. After a while (how long dependes on the hardness of water and the amount of people in the house) the resin becomes exhausted and has to be regenerated. This is achieved by flushing the resin with salt water, a process known as regeneration. This approach is common to all water softeners but it's how each manufacturer goes about it that seperates the best from merely average.
